KIOTERA IoT platform

The modular IoT platform for industrial applications

Modular IoT architecture for productive applications

At its core is an open IoT architecture that enables turnkey solutions. The Smart Business Grid combines an open platform basis with preconfigured business modules - from the sensor to the ready-to-use application.

Typical fields of application are energy and district heating monitoring, condition monitoring and the monitoring of distributed infrastructure. In contrast to classic platform approaches, companies do not receive a pure development environment, but an immediately usable solution - from sensor technology and data transmission to visualization and alarming.

The Smart Business Grid is a modular IoT infrastructure that has been developed based on experience from numerous IoT projects. The aim is to standardize IoT applications in such a way that they can be used productively within a few days and then scaled across locations.

The solution consists of four structural levels:

Infrastructure level

A validated catalog of sensors and gateways forms the physical basis. At the same time, the architecture is designed to be open: Existing or customer-specific sensors can be integrated at any time using standardized protocols.

Platform level

At its core is an open, scalable IoT architecture based on ThingsBoard. It supports common communication protocols, role and rights management as well as open interfaces for integration into existing IT systems.

 Module level (Grid Module)

Based on this, preconfigured modules structure the recorded data and configured hierarchies. They handle visualization, alerting and notification logic for defined use cases.

Application level (Smart Business Apps)

The top level aggregates data across sites, plants, buildings and grids. This provides structured energy data that supports ISO 50001-based energy management processes and district heating monitoring for FFVAV.

Typical fields of application are

  • Energy monitoring
  • Remote meter reading (electricity, gas, water)
  • District heating monitoring and network monitoring
  • Condition monitoring (e.g. vibration analysis)
  • Fill level monitoring
  • Room climate monitoring
  • Parking lot monitoring

All modules are structured end-to-end - from sensor integration and data transmission to visualization and alarming. Companies do not receive a pure development environment, but an operational structure that can be used without extensive basic configuration.

The architecture remains openly expandable. Additional use cases can be integrated or existing modules adapted via APIs, standard protocols and individual extensions.

The Smart Business Grid is suitable for industrial companies, cities, municipalities and public utilities with a distributed infrastructure that want to implement IoT applications quickly and scalably.

For industrial companies, municipal utilities, local authorities and the real estate industry

Modular design for different industries and company structures:

The Smart Business Grid enables cross-site energy and condition monitoring as well as the structured recording of other operating data such as fill levels, pressure values or valve positions. The aim is to create a consolidated data basis for operation, maintenance and energy controlling.

Municipal utilities & energy suppliers

For operators of energy and district heating networks and supply infrastructure.

Supports remote meter reading, grid and transfer station monitoring and the processing of FFVAV-relevant measurement data. Multi-client capability and multi-site architecture enable operation across several supply areas.

Cities & municipalities

For municipal properties, technical infrastructure and smart city applications.

Enables the central recording and evaluation of energy, climate, fill level or parking space monitoring data. Several use cases can be operated within a common structure.

Real estate & facility management

For operators of administrative, commercial or residential properties with technical building infrastructure.

Enables transparency of energy consumption, indoor climate and system statuses as a basis for operating cost optimization, ESG reports and structured energy management processes.
